Emergency First Aid at Work


The WorkSafe one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive for first aiders working in low risk environments (e.g. offices, shops, residential care settings etc.)


The qualification will equip the first aider with ability to confidently undertake emergency first aid if someone becomes ill or injured at work.


Class size is limited to no more than 8 so as to ensure an optimum learning experience


Full information on the different levels and requirements for First Aid in the Workplace can be found on the HSE website.  The course is delivered in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L74 for qualifying First Aid personnel in the workplace.

Course Details

When you join this course, you will receive a comprehensive student resource pack.  The pack contains a market leading first aid reference manual that should be used during the class. Learners can keep and use it again as a post course reference.

What will I learn?


The Emergency First Aid at Work content covers the basic essentials that are required to provide emergency care to a patient. Learners will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:


  • Being able to act safely and effectively if an accident or emergency occurs.
  • Treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient.
  • Recognition and treatment of a person in seizure.
  • The ability to recognise cardiac arrest and deliver Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Being able to recognise and safely treat a patient who is choking.
  • Know how to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding.
  • Keeping simple records after an accident at work.




You will be awarded the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, valid for 3 years and certified by Worksafe Training Systems.


The HSE recommend that all workplace first aiders receive annual refresher training in first aid techniques whilst holding this qualification.


What do I need to bring?


Photographic identification, such as a driving license or passport.


Proof of address, such as a utility bill.


Where necessary, proof of current qualifications.  Please contact the Centre for guidance.
